RDM-61M is a directional radio from the former Yugoslavia; it uses tubes.

It was meant to replace telephone lines in the field.

It was used in commanding vehicles or portable; the housing is watertight.

Transmitter and receiver can be tuned independently; and can be used simultaneously or alternately.

Two participators can make a connection, when a connection by wire is not possible (for example when rivers or valleys block the way). However, a line of sight connection is necessary.

The Yagi antenna can be used horizontally or vertically.

The measuring instrument shows the strength of the received signal; or the voltage of the battery. Originally, a silver- zinc- battery was used. This battery was very expensive and delicate; so a cable for external use of 6V is added. Very often, wrong operation leaded to the destruction of the radio, so the radio was modified by adding a diode. Modified radios can be recognized by the letter "P" on the name plate.
